Personalized, Non-Surgical Care

At Arkansas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, we understand that surgery isn’t always the best—or only—solution. Our comprehensive non-operative treatments are designed to reduce pain, restore mobility, and help you regain the active lifestyle you love without the need for invasive procedures.

Our non-operative care begins with a detailed evaluation to pinpoint the source of your discomfort. Our board-certified orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine specialists then create a customized treatment plan based on the latest research and proven techniques. This patient-centered approach not only targets your specific condition but also minimizes downtime and reduces risk.

Our Non-Operative Treatment Options Include:

  • VISCOSUPPLEMENTATION

Viscosupplementation is used to treat knee osteoarthritis. If you have osteoarthritis, you likely do not have enough synovial fluid (a lubricant that helps the bones glide smoothly) in your knee joint, resulting in increased pain and stiffness.

This treatment involves injecting hyaluronic acid into your knee joint to supplement the synovial fluid, resulting in reduced knee pain and increased movement. It is useful for people who are trying to delay surgery or are not candidates for knee replacement surgery. Dr. Sidani uses Supartz® viscosupplementation products. Injections are typically given weekly for 3 or 4 weeks.

  • CORTICOSTEROID INJECTIONS

Injectable cortisone is a powerful anti-inflammatory medication, a synthetically produced steroid that lasts for a longer period of time than the cortisone your body naturally produces. It is injected directly into joints such as shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, and ankles to decrease inflammation, which can subsequently decrease pain. Cortisone injections usually work within a few days, and the effects can last up to several weeks.

  • PLATELET-RICH PLASMA (PRP) INJECTIONS

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) injections at Arkansas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine offer a non-surgical solution to reduce pain and speed up healing. By using a concentrated dose of your own platelets, PRP helps treat conditions like joint pain, tendon injuries, and osteoarthritis—making it ideal for athletes and active individuals. With fast appointment availability and expert care, it’s a natural way to get back to doing what you love.

  • AMNIOX INJECTION

Amniox injections at Arkansas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine offer a regenerative, non-surgical treatment for joint pain, inflammation, and soft tissue injuries. Made from amniotic membrane tissue, amniox is rich in growth factors that help reduce inflammation and promote natural healing. It's a great option for patients looking for a minimally invasive alternative when other treatments haven’t provided lasting relief.

  • EPIDURAL STEROID INJECTIONS (ESI)

Epidural Steroid Injections (ESI) are a highly effective, image-guided treatment for neck, mid-back, and lower back pain caused by nerve compression or inflammation. A corticosteroid—combined with a local anesthetic—is delivered precisely into the epidural space surrounding the spinal cord and nerve roots.

ESIs are commonly used to manage pain from herniated discs, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, radiculopathy (radiating arm or leg pain), and sciatica. The anti-inflammatory medication reduces swelling around irritated nerve roots, providing significant pain relief that can last weeks to months.

ESIs are typically performed under fluoroscopic (X-ray) guidance to ensure accurate needle placement and optimal outcomes. A series of up to three injections may be recommended, spaced several weeks apart.

  • RADIOFREQUENCY ABLATION (RFA)

Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses heat generated by radio waves to disrupt the nerve signals responsible for transmitting chronic joint or back pain to the brain. RFA is particularly effective for patients with facet joint arthritis, sacroiliac joint pain, and chronic neck or low back pain who have experienced temporary but significant relief from diagnostic nerve blocks.

Using fluoroscopic guidance, a specialized needle electrode is positioned next to the targeted nerve. Radiofrequency energy then creates a small, controlled lesion that interrupts pain signaling. Relief from RFA can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 or more years.

Because the procedure targets specific pain pathways without disrupting normal motor function, patients are typically able to resume normal activities within a few days.

  • KYPHOPLASTY

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive spinal procedure designed to treat painful vertebral compression fractures (VCFs)—most often caused by osteoporosis, cancer, or trauma. During the procedure, a small balloon is carefully inserted into the collapsed vertebral body and gently inflated to restore height and create a cavity within the bone.

The balloon is then removed and the cavity is filled with bone cement (polymethylmethacrylate), which hardens quickly to stabilize the fracture and relieve pain. Patients typically experience immediate or near-immediate pain relief and improved spinal alignment.

Kyphoplasty is performed under X-ray guidance and is usually completed within one hour per level treated. It is an excellent option for patients who have not responded to conservative management and wish to avoid more extensive spinal surgery.

  • BONE MARROW ASPIRATE CONCENTRATE (BMAC) — Regenexx®

Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) is an advanced regenerative therapy that harnesses your body's own healing potential to treat musculoskeletal conditions. A small amount of bone marrow—rich in mesenchymal stem cells, growth factors, and anti-inflammatory proteins—is harvested from the posterior iliac crest of the pelvis.

This aspirate is then processed and concentrated using specialized centrifugation techniques, and precisely injected under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance into damaged joints, tendons, or spinal discs. Arkansas Orthopedics & Sports Medicine is proud to offer Regenexx®—the nation's leading network for orthobiologic treatments, backed by the largest published dataset of patient outcomes in the field.

Regenexx® BMAC procedures are ideal for patients with moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis, rotator cuff tears, labral injuries, partial ligament tears, and degenerative disc disease who want to optimize their body's natural repair processes before considering surgical options.

  • PRP & BMAC COMBINATION THERAPY

For patients with complex or advanced musculoskeletal conditions, combining Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) with Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) can provide a synergistic regenerative effect that neither treatment achieves alone. PRP delivers a high concentration of growth factors and cytokines that accelerate cellular repair, reduce inflammation, and create an optimal healing environment.

When paired with the stem cell-rich BMAC, the combination amplifies the biological signaling needed to regenerate cartilage, repair soft tissue, and modulate the inflammatory cascade associated with chronic joint degeneration. This combination approach is particularly well-suited for patients with moderate-to-severe osteoarthritis, significant tendon or ligament pathology, or partial-thickness cartilage defects.

Our team will perform a comprehensive evaluation to determine whether combination orthobiologic therapy is appropriate for your condition, ensuring the most targeted and effective treatment plan possible.

  • PHYSICAL THERAPY

Physical therapy may sometimes be used in place of orthopedic surgery (depending on the severity of your injury), prior to surgery to strengthen the muscles surrounding the body part that will be operated on, or as an essential part of the healing process after surgery to help re-build your strength and restore proper function to the joints involved in the operation.

Physical therapy can help shorten your recovery time and ensure optimal outcomes. Therapists will create a personalized treatment plan targeting specific muscles and use exercise, manual therapy, joint mobilization, and modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, heat and cold to re-train your body to perform normal movements.

Please note that all physical therapy is conducted off-site, at a physical therapy office.
